Overview
Understanding who has access to your 1:1 conversations is important for maintaining appropriate privacy while ensuring proper organizational oversight.
Default Visibility for 1:1 Conversations
Hejj uses a tree structure based on your organization chart. The content of a 1:1 conversation can be viewed by:
The manager conducting the conversation
The employee participating in the conversation
People higher in the hierarchy (upper management)
HR
This ensures that leadership and HR maintain sufficient context about employee development and progress.
Important: Employees can only see conversations that relate to themselves. They can never view information about colleagues.
You can check the hierarchy at any time by viewing the organization chart under "My Company".
Private Notes Within a 1:1
Every 1:1 conversation includes a "Private Notes" tab. Notes placed in this tab are:
Only visible to the person who wrote them
Not visible to the employee
Not visible to HR
Not visible to upper management
This feature is designed for personal reminders and memory aids during the conversation.
Conversation Notes Within a 1:1
The "Conversation Notes" tab is where you capture discussion points during the meeting. These notes:
Are visible to all parties who can access the 1:1 (manager, employee, upper management, HR)
Form the basis for the structured report that is automatically generated
Can include bullet points and informal observations
Get transformed into a polished, structured report
Key Takeaways
1:1 conversations follow organizational hierarchy - visible to manager, employee, upper management, and HR
Private notes are truly private - only you can see them
Conversation notes are shared - visible to all parties with access to the 1:1
Check the org chart to understand who has access in your specific hierarchy
